Credit where credit is due - IBM Notes now as an option sure to please the masses

Darren Duke  December 13 2012 11:14:51 AM
And I mean users here, not LotiCS faithful.

Over the years I have beat IBM up over the fact the Notepad is superior to Notes when pasting. See here this old post from October 2009 along with the accompanying IdamJam post.....

Anyway with IBM Notes 9 there is a new option (and a keyboard shortcut!!!) in the Edit bar:

Paste as Plain Text

And it works! I just copied some HTML that would give Notes < 9 a heart attack and sure enough across it comes as *expected*. Beautiful.

Kudos to IBM.

What's the keyboard shortcut? (I'm still 40 minutes away from finishing the download(s)...)

I asked for this in the beta forum of Notes6

Great that it is finally there.

Now if Santa could bring me

- highlight a string and search with Google (build in, not with LiveText)

- save an attachment and have a direct link to open that specific folder

- enable the "mark all read" menu option when you are in the Trash folder

- let me manage multiple signatures

- let me restore a mail in the trash to a selected folder or the inbox

- have decent export options for view content

- stop the certificate security warnings a user receives when opening a mail that is using ssl

- Have an indicator in the local mailfile if and how many mails are waiting in the local mail.box

- Stop the block sender mail rules to no more ruin a mailbox because it overflows (even better implement something useful)

- support png everywhere

And hundreds of additional wishes but keep all the good things that are in Notes and Domino (yes, there is a lot of good stuff in Notes and Domino).

I thought I won't look at Notes 9 but I am now downloading it. An old flame never dies.
