YES!For those of you still with 4.6 clients (although if you do, chances are you don't even know what a blog is so it is unlikely to be reading this) a DAOS enabled 8.5 server works fine.
Hats of to IBM for their superior backward compatibility. To be honest I couldn't see any reason why it wouldn't work, but we tested this at a client yesterday (thanks HB).
Yes, they are moving to 8.x, just somewhat more slowly that they'd anticipated :)
