Copying VMware vmdk files.....check this out
Haven't done a VMware post in a while. Been busy upgrading customers to 8.5 and Quickr 8.2 ;)
Anyway, there are occasions when you need to copy vmware files around, specifically if you are moving from VMware Server to VMware ESXi. You somehow have to get the files to the new host.
Historically this copy task has been done with SSH and WinSCP. However, anyone that has ever had the displeasure to sit there for hours and hours on end when doing a large virtual server disk knows this is tedious.
Good news, there is a significantly faster option out there from Veeam and it is available for free, and works with ESXi. Veeam FastSCP 3.0 can be up to 6 times faster than WinSCP.
