Hot of the presses in that BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 is released. No surprise really, given that WES starts today. We have been running the Beta for Domino BES 5.0 for about 4 months against a 8.5 mail server and it runs fine (YMMV).

Please, please, please bring up a test environment to try it out, it is a big change on the UI side now that it is all browser based (Internet Holesplorer only, and I have not tried IE 8). It is going to be overwhelming at first and you do not want to learn on production!

BES fail over (using the same SPR key) is now fully supported as is full SQL replication for the BESMgmt database. Setting this up is not for the faint of heart, so again test (or bring in a certified consultant, wink, wink, nudge, nudge!).

Make sure to get any release security updates too as I'm not sure if the PDF one made it into the gold code.

Here is the official link on the BlackBerry web site, but be aware most of the End User "new features" require a 5.0 device OS upgrade and this will not be available for quite a while.

Also of note (or not) is that there will be no BES 5.0 for GroupWise.
