While resetting everything back up after my move to Windows 7 (and to my shock, liking I'm liking Win7) I saw this in the Contacts Preferences:

Image:Recent Contacts updates - was this new in 8.5.2?
Now, I never look at this preference unless I'm rebuilding a machine or testing policies, but there you have it. Some options to control the "Good idea, bad implementation" of Recent Contacts is nice to see. The only other feature we need now is to prevent adding users with "Notes names".

Got an 8.5.1 template right here, and it wasn't there.

It .would. be nice to have a list of new things in 8.5.2 so we could, like, test 'em.....

That's definitely new. It wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. "Don't add persons from my org. to recent contacts" They're in the Domino Directory, I don't need them in recent contacts.

Also, "recent" is in the eye of the beholder. That should be number I can adjust. Quick chuckler on that point. I have a user that caused an "overflow" error by putting 100000 in his soft delete value because he didn't like Notes deleting his trash. I have another user who doesn't like schedule replication because he doesn't like notes sending mail from his outgoing mailbox after he's hit the "send" button on the memo.

@1 and @2, yeah one of the guys in the office is running 8.5.1 FP2 and he didn't have it so it is new. A start on "fixing" recent contacts I guess....

Haven't seen my desk since December....

OK, that's not true. I picked up an amazon package that got shipped there by mistake.

Great to see IBM added this option! Right now if a user types in a wrong sender address, the address will be added to recent contacts of all recipients on that e-mail.

@2: I'm pretty happy recent contacts includes contacts from my Domino Directory because the new name lookup feature of Notes 8.x Standard only does a local lookup.

@6, fair point, but Domino user renames WILL eventually be a pain. Plus, IBM already took care of that.....the condensed directory heads off that issue if you have it set up.
