Another customer now utilizing DAOS
This time a AS400 - iSeries - i5 customer running V5R4.
These guys archive a large chuck so this will be updated once we DAOS those files too. Anyway to keep to a similar format as the previous post most of the mail files already had 8.0.1 compression enabled so those gains are not shown here. Bullet points are below:
Using "Darren's rather ropey math" (tm) that gives us approx 47% disk space reduction. This should also translate into a 47% backup time and usage reduction too.
When we did this 8.5 IF2 for the i5 was available but not documented. A call to support and we were able to install IF2.

- Total size prior to DAOS was 17.1GB
- After DAOS the mail files were 2.7GB and the DAOS folder was 6.5GB, for a combined total of 9.1GB

Per { http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/SG245162.html we used non-dedicated for now. This is in the Domino directory and was limited to 2GB circular. There is a reasonably small user base. As always YMMV. } we used non-dedicated for now. This is in the Domino directory and was limited to 2GB circular. There is a reasonably small user base. As always YMMV.
How did they set up transaction logging on the as400?
