The last DAOS results of 2009

It's been busy lately and I'm loving that. Prior to 2009 expiring we did a DAOS implementation that was special in that DAOS was added despite the customer using EMC MailExtender. As usual the the results are astounding. To say I am not a fan of EMC Mail Extender is an understatement and DAOS may well allow the customer to get rid of this semaphore generating piece of junk. Anyway here are the details....

Pre DAOS
179GB

Post DAOS
44GB NSF
37GB DAOS
81GB Total

This makes for a 51% reduction in overall storage. Again, this is even though the customer is using MailExtender to provide similar functionality.

Incidentally, I have added a static web page to track DAOS size reductions as I blog about them (I don't blog about them all), available on the right side bar under "Real World DAOS Results".
