Snarky continuation of the annual tradition of tracing the previous years happenings......this time is, shock horror, 2011!  With 2012 bearing down on us here's what took place in the last year (allegedly):

I turned 40. So much of this stuff may be wrong as my memory starts to go the way of my eyesight. Although I've managed without Viagra so far.....

The blog (or more correctly this blog) had far fewer posts than any other year. I guess my Yellow Tiger Blood is waning,

IBM looked like they were going to dump the Lotus brand. Then looked like they weren't. Then looked like they'd compromised.

With the rebranding effort some of people said "Yes, please rebrand". Others said "NO, don't rebrand", Most said "Lotus? That's still around?....I used to like 1-2-3.....what ever happened to that?"

The "Mastering XPages Book" was released. I think it shocked a whole lot of people by actually selling.

Firefox 3.x was current in-market release on 1/1/2011.

Speaking of Firefox, Firefox 4 was released.

Speaking of Firefox, Firefox 5 was released.

Speaking of Firefox, Firefox 6 was released.

Speaking of Firefox, Firefox 7 was released.

Speaking of Firefox, Firefox 8 was released.

Speaking of Firefox, Firefox 9 was/will be released (depends on the post date of this smirkathon. ETA 12/20/2011)

Speaking of Firefox, Firefox lost market share. I wonder why?

Speaking of browsers. Internet Explorer lost market share. Because it is a shitty browser.

Chrome almost doubled market share. It's fast. I hate to say this, but this is now my browser of choice.

Speaking of Google, their unofficial motto continues to be "Do Know Evil".

If you'd have sold your RIMM shares at the beginning of the year, you'd have gotten close to $65/share. Now? Not so much. $15-ish. That's quite a hair cut.

Speaking of RIM. The guys flying this company into the ground are still there!

Speaking of RIM. They released a tablet. Without email. Apparently someone at RIM thinks they can do something other than email. It appears they were wrong. The guys flying this company into the ground are still there!

Speaking of RIM. They had a 3 day world wide outage. Every IT person on the planet said "Meh, I have an iPhone". Every business person on the planet said "WTF! Get me an iPhone". Every CEO on the planet told their CIO's, "WTF! Allow iPhones on the networks". Lotus Traveler got installed in a whole lot of places after that. The guys flying this company into the ground are still there!

Speaking of RIM. Dear reader, your DR tests are useless. Until a disaster happens, your paper-based DR plan is like gold. After a disaster, your paper DR plan is used as bog roll.

Speaking of RIM. If you really want to pull yourselves out of this really, really bad year simply rename or prefix all of your products with the words "Social" or "Cloud".

Speaking of IBM. Literally every product or service was renamed or brute forced to have the word "Social" in it.

Speaking of IBM. Lotus was renamed to ICS. But only in private. And on email signatures. And on business cards. Shockingly neither email signatures nor business cards are private. Who knew?

Speaking of IBM ICS, they killed the blogger program. Luckily for me I don't post very often any more.....did I already say my Yellow Tiger Blood is waning?

Speaking of IBM ICS, I was hoping to see Quickr Connectors on the Mac.

Speaking of IBM, they started a Champions program. Yeah, yeah. I'm not one. Read this blog or listen to the podcast to find out why ;)

Speaking of This Week In Lotus, I missed my first ever episode. Now I've missed a few.....did I already say my Yellow Tiger Blood is waning?

Steve Jobs died. By all accounts the dude was a complete and utter dick (yeah, I know, kettle meet pot), but all the bad stuff is forgiven forgotten when you help build the stuff he did.

Speaking of Apple, I got an iPhone. Then a Macbook Air. I hated both at first. It's only been a few weeks with the Air and my dislike is still there although "hate" is no longer the word. Not a complete fanboy. Yet. But admittedly I prefer my iPhone over my Galaxy S now.

Speaking of Apple. I would love to see Quickr Connectors on the Mac......Did I say that already?

Speaking of Apple. You really need to put a 8GB RAM option on the Air.

Speaking of Apple. How on earth can you have a phone without being able to flag favorite contacts or quick dials?

On my trusty Lenovo T500 Thinkpad (we sell these you know....Lenovo I mean, not T500's specifically) I moved from Windows 7 32 bit with 3GB to Windows 7 64 bit with 8GB RAM. I highly recommend this. And RAM is cheap nowadays. Did I say I was getting old? I don't recall....... :)

Don't think too badly of yourself, your wife seems to adore you.

Oh, wait. Steve Jobs' wife adored him, too.

Hmmm.

OK, thanks to Per Henrik Lausten I have found the favorites on the iPhone. How that hell did I not see the tab on the phone screen? Now, flagging a contact as a favorite is in a totally non-intuitive place. In my defense I did say my eye sight was going ;)

What else have you missed then with those old eyes? ;-)

Thanks for a full year of TWiL! Keep up the good work.

After passing 50 is when it all goes to hell.

Classic.

You neglected to mention some guys flying the company had some actual flying incidents a few weeks ago. Chewed through restraints and whatnot.
